Singtel City South Exchange Workplace Wayfinding

Singtel EGD & Wayfinding

Wayfinding and environmental graphics for one of Singapore's most architecturally distinctive workplace developments.

Expertise: Wayfinding Strategy, Environmental Graphics, Mapping, Car Park Signage

Singtel City South Exchange occupies one of Singapore's most architecturally distinctive recent workplace buildings — a brutalist composition of exposed concrete forms and an extensively planted living facade that has become a recognizable presence in the city's skyline. The wayfinding brief had to respond to the architectural character of the building rather than fight against it, finding a design language that complemented the brutalist vernacular while delivering the operational clarity a major workplace environment demands.

Creative Dialog, in collaboration with interior design firm Graphite Studio, developed the wayfinding scheme, environmental graphics, mapping system and car park signage for the project. The architectural starting point — exposed concrete, chiseled forms, edgy material treatments — became the design springboard for the wayfinding system itself.

The design language carries jet-black signage with chiseled, faceted features that echo the building's brutalist geometry. Edgy glass graphics deploy at building entries and meeting room walls, large-scale wall graphics anchor key activation zones across the work floors, and a coherent car park signage system extends the wayfinding logic through the structured parking environment. The visual register is deliberately confident — sharp, angular, unflinching — calibrated to the architecture rather than softened against it.

Throughout, materials and finishes are specified for Singapore's tropical conditions: humidity-stable substrates, anti-corrosive fixings for the building's exposed and semi-exposed wayfinding locations, and finishes calibrated to perform across the year-round equatorial UV exposure that Singapore presents.

The result is a wayfinding system that reads as part of the building, not as something applied to it — and that performs with the operational reliability major Singapore workplace environments demand.
